BMW E‑chassis N54 custom ECU tuning using MHD with MHD+ features by Poverty Built. Built first and foremost for stock‑turbo N54s with typical bolt‑ons, with full support for port injection, flex‑fuel, upgraded twins (17T/19T), and single‑turbo conversions. We leverage on‑the‑fly map switching, rolling anti‑lag, boost‑by‑gear, adjustable burbles, and (where hardware supports it) flex‑fuel blending for street and track—always with conservative, data‑driven mapping and OEM‑smooth drivability.

What Poverty Built does for this platform: Poverty Built focuses on torque you can actually use, with clean transient behavior and safe thermal management. For N54 + MSD80/MSD81 we calibrate:

  • Driver’s request → torque model → torque/boost limiters by gear

  • Boost control (WGDC base/comp, spool & taper), load/air model, and PID

  • Fueling targets (lambda), HPFP/LPFP pressure control, and port‑injection blending/PI controller integration (AIC/Reflex/etc.)

  • Flex‑fuel strategies (content sensor or virtual) and per‑fuel ignition maps

  • Ignition timing, knock strategy windows, IAT/CLT compensations

  • Throttle mapping for precise, predictable part‑throttle

  • MHD/MHD+ live adjustables (map slots, burble tables, max‑cool, etc.)

  • Plausibility/diagnostics alignment; safety‑critical monitors remain intact


PRICING & OPTIONS

  • Custom tune (stock/bolt‑ons; supports upgraded twins 17T/19T): $380 — includes one primary map

  • Single‑turbo custom tune: $420 — includes one primary map

  • Additional maps (either package): add up to 3 extra maps — $20 each (e.g., 91, 93, E30/E50; valet; anti‑lag profile)

(All maps are built for your exact hardware & fuel. MHD+ is required to use features like on‑the‑fly map switching and rolling anti‑lag.)


WHAT YOU GET

  • OEM‑smooth drivability with crisp response and stable boost control

  • Torque shaping by gear for traction and transmission health

  • Repeatable power on pump gas and ethanol blends (with flex‑fuel support)

  • Revisions with datalogs until it’s dialed (we’ll specify what to capture)


RECOMMENDED SUPPORTING MODS

  • FMIC and upgraded chargepipe (factory plastics are failure‑prone)

  • Healthy coils and one‑step‑colder spark plugs (gapped correctly)

  • LPFP/HPFP health confirmed; LPFP upgrade for higher ethanol blends or sustained high load

  • For PI builds: quality controller (AIC/Reflex), proper wiring, and fuel system headroom

  • Free‑flow downpipes/exhaust for track/off‑road use; quality intake optional

  • Fresh maintenance: filters, PCV, no boost/vacuum leaks, clean TMAP/MAF (if equipped)


HOW ORDERING WORKS

  1. Choose Custom tune ($380) for stock/bolt‑ons (supports 17T/19T) or Single‑turbo custom tune ($420), and select up to 3 extra maps if desired.

  2. In the order notes, list fuel(s) (e.g., 91/93/E30), mods (turbos, PI, LPFP, ST kit), and desired map slots (e.g., 1=91, 2=E30, 3=valet).

  3. Provide your MHD backup (MSD80/MSD81) and we’ll send flashing steps.

  4. Flash with MHD, send clean datalogs → we iterate to finalize.


LEGAL & OFF‑ROAD USE

Any calibration that affects emissions equipment (e.g., catalytic monitor readiness, rear O2 reporting) is for closed‑course competition/off‑road use only. You are responsible for knowing and following local laws.
