BMW 335d and X5 xDrive35d diesel ECU tuning for the M57N2 engine with Bosch EDC17CP09. Poverty Built offers staged calibrations for daily drivers, stronger street setups, and higher-output off-road builds.
This is not a one-size-fits-all file. During checkout, you’ll tell us the vehicle, emissions hardware status, swirl flap status, fuel system, transmission tune status, flash tool, and any known DTCs or hardware notes. We use that information to select and prepare the correct calibration path for your setup.

What Poverty Built does for this platform
For the M57N2 + EDC17CP09 platform, Poverty Built focuses on strong diesel torque without making the car annoying to drive. Depending on selected stage and setup, calibration work may include:
Driver wish / pedal response
Torque model and torque limiter calibration
Torque-by-gear shaping
VNT / boost control
Rail pressure and injection quantity calibration
Smoke limiter and air control
MAF / MAP plausibility
Exhaust pressure and temperature strategy
Transmission-aware torque delivery
Vmax / top-speed limiter adjustment, if selected
DTC strategy based on the hardware listed during checkout
Stages, Gains & Pricing
Power gains depend on vehicle health, fuel quality, altitude, hardware, emissions equipment status, and transmission behavior. Listed gains are conservative estimates.
Stage 1 — OEM+ Daily
Price: $280
Typical gains: ~+55–75 hp / +80-90 lb-ft
Stage 1 is the best starting point for a mostly stock or lightly modified M57. It improves torque, response, and drivability without trying to push the car to the edge.
This is the right choice if you want the car to feel stronger everywhere while keeping the calibration mild and daily-friendly. Stage 1 can be prepared around the hardware information you submit at checkout.
Stage 2 — Strong Street / Factory-Fuel Calibration
Price: $340
Typical gains: ~+100–130 hp / +120–160 lb-ft
Stage 2 is the hotter calibration for customers who want more out of the factory fuel system. It is aimed at stronger torque delivery, better midrange, and a more aggressive feel than Stage 1 while still being kept controlled.
If the car has emissions equipment present, we tune accordingly. If the car is configured for off-road use with emissions hardware removed, you’ll disclose that in the options and the file will be prepared appropriately.
For off-road setups, Stage 2 is where deleted/exhaust-modified cars generally start to make more sense.
Stage 3 — Max Effort Staged Calibration
Price: $420
Typical gains: Hardware-dependent
Stage 3 is the most aggressive staged file offered for this platform. It is not a full custom tune, and it is not priced like one. Think of it as the max-effort Poverty Built staged calibration for customers who want the strongest available file based on the setup information submitted at checkout.
Stage 3 is aimed at higher-output off-road builds and cars with better supporting hardware. If the car has upgraded fueling, upgraded pressure sensor hardware, exhaust upgrades, or other supporting parts, list everything clearly in the options. If the setup does not support the most aggressive version of the file, we will keep the calibration appropriate for the vehicle.
This is the stage for customers who want the most out of the platform without stepping into a separate full custom tuning service.
Not recommended for towing or neglected vehicles. Higher-output diesel calibrations can expose weak injectors, boost leaks, tired transmissions, fuel supply issues, or cooling problems.
Common Diesel Calibration Solutions
Depending on the setup information submitted during checkout, we can account for:
EGR / EGR throttle configuration
DPF-related strategy for off-road vehicles
SCR / DEF / AdBlue-related strategy for off-road vehicles
NOx sensor logic for off-road vehicles
Swirl flap-related setup notes
MAF / MAP plausibility
Exhaust pressure and exhaust temperature strategy
Torque monitoring and torque limiters
Transmission torque management
Vmax / top-speed limiter adjustment
We do not blindly disable safety-critical monitors. The goal is to make the calibration match the vehicle while keeping it as clean and diagnosable as possible.
What You Get
Staged EDC17CP09 calibration file
File prepared around your checkout setup information
Smooth part-throttle behavior
