No. This is a preset map pack with stages defined by the hardware and fuel requirements in the listing.

Will anything be shipped?

The tune file is delivered by email. A cable or other physical add-on ships separately if you purchase one.

Use Find Your BMW Tune or send your VIN, engine, ECU/controller ID, and modification list before ordering.

BMW S55 Tune — Choose Stage 1, 2 or 3

A platform-developed calibration file for supported vehicles using MEVD17.2.G.

STAGE MATCHING

The stage is part of the calibration specification. Choose the stage that matches the vehicle’s actual turbo, hardware, and fuel. Anything labeled Required must be installed and operating correctly. Order details such as VIN, ECU/ROM, fuel, transmission, and requested supported exhaust behavior are collected by email after ordering and do not replace stage requirements.

  • 2014–2019 BMW F80 M3
  • 2014–2020 BMW F82/F83 M4
  • BMW F87 M2 Competition and M2 CS

Compatibility note: The ECU software and unlock status must be confirmed before purchase. ECUs with later bootloader software can require a bench/boot unlock before OBD flashing.

STAGE 1 — STOCK-TURBO DAILY

For a healthy vehicle using the factory turbocharger and stock or lightly modified supporting hardware. Focused on stronger response and torque while retaining predictable factory-style drivability.

STAGE 2 — STOCK-TURBO PERFORMANCE

For factory-turbo vehicles with the cooling and airflow hardware required for a higher-load map.

Required:

  • Factory turbochargers
  • Upgraded charge-air cooling
  • High-flow exhaust/downpipe hardware where lawful
  • Leak-free charge system and healthy high- and low-pressure fuel supply

STAGE 3 — SUPPORTED UPGRADED TURBO

For specifically supported upgraded-turbo combinations. The turbo, fuel system, and ECU/ROM must match an available Stage 3 file.

Required:

  • A specifically supported upgraded-turbo combination
  • Stage 2 cooling and airflow hardware
  • Fuel-system capacity appropriate for the selected fuel and output
  • A validated ECU/ROM, turbo, and transmission combination

If the exact Stage 3 combination has not been confirmed as supported, contact Poverty Built before ordering; Stage 3 is not a substitute for one-off development.

DIGITAL TUNE DELIVERY

The tune itself is delivered by email. No physical tune is shipped, and no tracking number is expected.

  • Your calibration file and applicable flashing instructions are sent to the email address used at checkout.
  • Choose one Stage variant; this purchase includes one file for that stage. After ordering, email your order number and vehicle/setup information to help@povertybuilt.com; see ordering details below.
  • A full ECU read is not required unless Poverty Built requests one after reviewing the order.
  • Flashing software, licenses, cables, and interfaces are separate unless this listing or your order specifically says they are included.
  • If your order also includes a cable or other physical hardware, that item ships separately. A shipping label means the package is being prepared; it is not in transit until the carrier receives it.

ORDER INFORMATION

  1. Confirm ECU/ROM support, software, unlock status, and the exact flashing route and separate costs with Poverty Built before ordering if uncertain. Confirm Stage 3 combination support before purchase.
  2. Select the Stage variant matching the actual hardware and fuel.
  3. After ordering, email your order number, full VIN, vehicle, engine, turbo/hardware setup, transmission, fuel, and requested supported features to help@povertybuilt.com.
  4. Include requested supported behavior in that email. ECU identification or a read is only needed if Poverty Built requests it.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE

  • One Poverty Built calibration file for your selected stage and confirmed supported combination
  • Delivery in the supported flashing format
  • Correction of a verified file issue if the delivered file does not match the submitted order

Changes outside the options and revision allowance shown on this listing are separate work. Open-ended custom development and mechanical diagnosis are not included unless this listing explicitly says otherwise. A verified issue in the supplied file will be corrected through Poverty Built support; it is not treated as a request for new tuning work.

FLASHING OPTIONS

Supported maps may be delivered in an MHD-ready format for flashing through MHD, a Bimmer Tuning Tools S55 QuickFlash-compatible format, or another supported format for the customer’s preferred compatible flasher. If Poverty Built needs a file read for the ECU/ROM, we will request it; a full read is not required unless asked.

Bimmer Tuning Tools S55 QuickFlash is currently $74 for a Single VIN license and requires a separately purchased ENET cable. For an eligible MHD route, the supported MHD flashing license and compatible interface are also separate. Software licenses, cables/interfaces, and any required unlock are not included in the calibration price. Confirm the exact ECU/software and supported route, including any separate unlock costs, before ordering.

BEFORE FLASHING

  • The vehicle must be mechanically healthy and free of unresolved fuel-pressure, ignition, boost-control, cooling, or drivetrain faults.
  • Use the exact file for the VIN, ECU, ROM, turbo, hardware, and fuel.
  • Complete any required ECU unlock before attempting the flash.
  • Maintain stable battery voltage and a reliable connection.

IMPORTANT

Performance varies with vehicle condition, fuel quality, hardware, climate, and drivetrain. No specific power figure is guaranteed. Safety-critical protection strategies remain enabled. The calibration is not intended to disable required emissions equipment or monitoring; the purchaser is responsible for complying with applicable laws.
