Tune purchase questions
Is this bespoke custom tuning?
No. This is a configured preset calibration for supported naturally aspirated combinations, not open-ended revision-based tuning.
Will anything be shipped?
The tune file is delivered by email. A cable or other physical add-on ships separately if you purchase one.
What if I am not sure which tune fits?
Use Find Your BMW Tune or send your VIN, engine, ECU/controller ID, and modification list before ordering.
After ordering, email help@povertybuilt.com with your order number to confirm your setup and map selections.
Fitment first: which ECU do I have?
Not sure which ECU you have? Send David your VIN at help@povertybuilt.com and we will help identify it. If you already have an ECU identification screenshot, include it. Let us know if the engine or ECU has been swapped.

Three switchable maps for $380. Just $100 more than our $280 single-map tune.
The Poverty Built N51/N52 Multi-Map Tune gives your BMW three selectable tune profiles on the factory MSV70, MSV80 or MSV80.1 ECU. Choose Stage 1, 2, or 3 for each map, then set pops and bangs Off or On, with your preferred intensity for each map where they are enabled.
Keep the same stage across your maps with different exhaust behavior, or choose a different stage for each. All three maps are configured around your car's hardware and fuel.
Only need one setup? The $280 single-map tune is available for MSV70 or MSV80/MSV80.1. You can choose that without buying the multi-map package.

Ignition-cut choices: fixed-RPM two-step uses a target set when the map is prepared; rolling RPM hold captures the RPM when activated. Tell us which style you want on each map where you request ignition cut. Read how the two styles work.
For example, choose the same stage for all three maps with different pops-and-bangs intensities, or use different stages across the maps. Each map gets its own selections.

- Stage 1 — OEM+: response, smooth power delivery, and factory-like driving character.
- Stage 2 — Performance: a more assertive naturally aspirated calibration.
- Stage 3 — Maximum N/A: our most comprehensive naturally aspirated preset for this platform.

Application
BMW N51/N52 engines with MSV70, MSV80 or MSV80.1. The file is prepared for your car's ECU and configuration.
What's included for $380

How to order
- Order the multi-map package.
- Email your order number, vehicle, hardware, transmission and fuel details to help@povertybuilt.com.
- Include the stage and pops-and-bangs setting you want for each of Map 1, Map 2 and Map 3, including your preferred intensity where pops and bangs are enabled. If requesting ignition cut, include fixed-RPM two-step or rolling RPM hold for the relevant map or maps.
- Receive your calibration package and instructions by email after order review.
Delivery and flashing
This is a digital tune delivered by email. Flashing software, licenses, cables, and interfaces are sold separately unless your order includes them. Physical hardware ships separately.
Follow the flashing and map-selection instructions supplied with your tune. Additional vehicle information or a file read will be requested if needed to prepare your order.
Flashing equipment for MSV70, MSV80 and MSV80.1
You will need a Windows PC, compatible flashing software and cable, and stable battery support. Software licenses, cables and interfaces are purchased separately unless your order includes them.

- MSV80/MSV80.1: Bimmer Tuning Tools lists MSV80 QuickFlash for these ECUs.
Check the linked tool pages for current PC requirements and BTT's cable compatibility guidance. MSV80 QuickFlash is licensed to one computer, so activate it on the PC you will use.
Before buying software for your first multi-map installation, confirm the required tool with us. Follow the file-specific instructions supplied with your calibration.
Questions
Can the maps use the same stage?
Yes. You can use the same stage with different pops-and-bangs intensities, or choose a different stage for each map. Pops and bangs can also be switched off on any map.
Does this include custom calibration?
This is a configured preset package. One-off development, ongoing datalog review, and custom revisions are separate services.
What about MSV90 or N53 MSD81?
MSV90 and MSD81 for the N53 engine are in progress and not yet available. No release date is promised.
