DIGITAL TUNE DELIVERY
The tune itself is delivered by email. No physical tune is shipped, and no tracking number is expected.
- Your calibration file and applicable flashing instructions are sent to the email address used at checkout.
- Complete the Tune Configurator for the car exactly as it will be when flashed, and review every selection before checkout.
- A full ECU read is not required unless Poverty Built requests one after reviewing the order.
- Flashing software, licenses, cables, and interfaces are separate unless this listing or your order specifically says they are included.
- If your order also includes a cable or other physical hardware, that item ships separately. A shipping label means the package is being prepared; it is not in transit until the carrier receives it.
Configure the car first. Choose the stage second.
This is a platform-developed, naturally aspirated calibration configured for 1996–1999 BMW E36 models using MS41/MS41.2. The stage is not a parts list and does not tell you which modifications your car must have.
Use the Tune Configurator to describe the car exactly as it will be when the tune is flashed—including the engine, intake manifold, MAF, injectors, cams, exhaust, fuel, and any other listed choices. Once the hardware configuration is correct, choose the stage based on the level of calibration and driving behavior you want.
HOW TO ORDER
- Decide how the car will be set up when the tune is installed. Do not select parts that are not installed yet unless they will be on the car before you flash it.
- Select the options that match the actual car. The hardware selections tell us what parts the calibration must support.
- Choose your stage. The stage determines the level and character of the calibration—not which parts you are required to buy.
Example: Headers and an M50 intake manifold do not automatically make a car “Stage 2” or “Stage 3.” Select those parts in the hardware options, then choose the stage that matches the performance and behavior you want. Likewise, a mostly stock car may choose a higher stage without first installing every part commonly suggested for that stage. Suggested modifications are recommendations—not stage requirements.
If your exact setup is not represented in the available options, contact us before ordering instead of selecting the closest answer.
WHAT EACH STAGE MEANS
STAGE 1 — OEM+ | $99
The cleanest and simplest performance calibration. Stage 1 focuses on improved throttle response, optimized fueling, ignition and VANOS behavior, and smooth factory-like drivability. Best for someone who wants the car to feel sharper without an aggressive personality.
Hardware reminder: Stage 1 does not mean “stock parts only.” Your selected hardware options still tell us how the car is configured.
STAGE 1+ — SPORT | $139
Builds on the Stage 1 foundation with sharper response and a sportier driving character. Additional supported behavior and closed-course/off-road configuration choices are applied when selected in the Tune Configurator. Mild burbles may be selected where offered.
Hardware reminder: Stage 1+ is a calibration level, not a required modification package.
STAGE 2 — PERFORMANCE | $159
A more assertive naturally aspirated calibration with additional performance optimization and stronger response than Stage 1/1+. The file is configured around the hardware choices submitted with the order.
Headers and an intake are not required to purchase Stage 2. They are common supporting upgrades, not the definition of the stage.
STAGE 3 — MAXIMUM N/A | $180
Our most comprehensive and aggressive naturally aspirated calibration for this platform. Stage 3 offers the highest available level of performance and behavior within Poverty Built’s staged calibration structure and supports the advanced configuration choices shown on the product form.
Cams, an M50 manifold, headers, or other major upgrades are not automatically required. Select only the hardware actually installed on the car.
FITMENT
- 1996–1999 BMW E36 323i / 323is / 323iC — M52B25, MS41
- 1996–1999 BMW E36 328i / 328is / 328iC — M52B28, MS41

WHAT IS CALIBRATED
Depending on the stage and options selected, the calibration may include:
- Part-load and full-load fueling
- Ignition timing
- VANOS behavior across RPM and load
- Throttle response and load modeling
- Idle speed, cooling-fan temperature and rev-limiter preferences
- MAF and injector calibration when supported hardware is selected
- Optional top-speed limiter changes
- Optional EWS and supported closed-course/off-road diagnostic configurations when selected
BEFORE YOU ORDER
- The vehicle must be mechanically healthy before tuning. A calibration will not repair vacuum leaks, failing sensors, weak fuel delivery, ignition problems, overheating, low compression, or other mechanical faults.
- Choose options for the car exactly as it will be driven with this tune.
- Hardware changes made after the file is delivered may require purchasing an updated calibration.
- Power gains vary with engine condition, fuel quality, altitude, weather, and installed hardware.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
- A Poverty Built platform-developed calibration configured around the selections submitted with your order
- Flashing guidance for the supported MS41 flashing process
- Correction of a verified tune-related issue if the delivered file does not match the submitted order
This product uses a proven calibration framework for supported combinations. It does not include one-off calibration development, repeated datalog review, ongoing revisions, or changes for later hardware updates. Builds that need an individualized process should use UNDSPTD. bespoke tuning.
FLASHING REQUIREMENTS
MS41/MS41.2 files can be flashed with Bimmer Tuning Tools MS41 QuickFlash. The flashing software and compatible cable are sold separately.
If Poverty Built needs a file read or additional ECU identification for your specific order, we will request it. You do not need to submit a full read unless asked. The customer is responsible for stable battery voltage, correct file handling, and a reliable connection during flashing.
CLOSED-COURSE / OFF-ROAD USE
Any option that changes the operation or reporting of emissions-related equipment is intended only for lawful closed-course competition or off-road use. You are responsible for knowing and following all laws that apply to your vehicle and location.
