Tune purchase questions
Is this bespoke custom tuning?
No. This is a configured preset calibration for supported naturally aspirated combinations, not open-ended revision-based tuning.
Will anything be shipped?
The tune file is delivered by email. A cable or other physical add-on ships separately if you purchase one.
What if I am not sure which tune fits?
Use Find Your BMW Tune or send your VIN, engine, ECU/controller ID, and modification list before ordering.
Fitment first: which ECU do I have?
Not sure which ECU you have? Send David your VIN at help@povertybuilt.com and we will help identify it. Include an ECU identification screenshot if you already have one, and mention an engine or ECU swap. You can also use our simple ECU identification guide.
Complete the available vehicle and hardware options when ordering. Send your order number, ECU and chosen stage to help@povertybuilt.com.
This single-map tune is $280. Want selectable setups? The N51/N52 multi-map package gives you three switchable maps for $380, just $100 more, for MSV70, MSV80 and MSV80.1. Read how the multi-map features work.
Configure the car first. Choose the stage second.
This is a platform-developed, naturally aspirated calibration for N51/N52N inline-six vehicles using MSV80/MSV80.0/MSV80.1. The stage is not a parts list and does not tell you which modifications the car must have.
Use the Tune Configurator to describe the car exactly as it will be when the tune is flashed. Once the vehicle, engine, hardware, fuel, transmission, and requested ECU behavior are correct, choose the stage based on the level and driving character you want.
HOW TO ORDER
- Complete every product option accurately. Select only the engine, hardware, fuel, and requested features that will actually be on the car when flashed.
- Choose the stage. The stage determines the level and character of the calibration—not which parts you are required to install.
Example: An intake, headers, exhaust, manifold, or cams do not automatically make a car Stage 2 or Stage 3. Select the installed parts in the options, then choose the stage that matches the performance and behavior you want. Suggested modifications can improve the result, but they are not stage requirements.

WHAT EACH STAGE MEANS
STAGE 1 — OEM+
The cleanest and simplest performance calibration. Stage 1 focuses on response, smooth power delivery, and factory-like drivability.
Hardware reminder: Stage 1 does not mean stock parts only. The submitted options still tell us how the car is configured.
STAGE 2 — PERFORMANCE
A more assertive naturally aspirated calibration with additional performance optimization and stronger response than Stage 1. The file is still configured around the hardware selections submitted with the order.
Common bolt-ons are suggestions, not requirements.
STAGE 3 — MAXIMUM N/A
The most comprehensive and aggressive naturally aspirated calibration offered by Poverty Built for supported combinations on this platform.
Major modifications are not automatically required. Select only the hardware actually installed on the car.
FITMENT
- Supported E6X, E8X, E9X, and E89 BMW applications equipped with N51/N52N and MSV80/MSV80.0/MSV80.1
WHAT IS CALIBRATED
Depending on the stage and options selected, the calibration may include:
- Drive-by-wire throttle and pedal response
- Part-load and full-load fueling
- Ignition timing
- Double-VANOS intake and exhaust cam behavior
- Valvetronic and load-control behavior
- DISA-aware airflow and torque delivery where applicable
- Idle, cooling-fan, rev-limiter, and top-speed preferences where supported
- Supported diagnostic and immobilizer configuration when selected
DIGITAL TUNE DELIVERY
The tune itself is delivered by email. No physical tune is shipped, and no tracking number is expected.
- Your calibration file and applicable flashing instructions are sent to the email address used at checkout.
- Complete the Tune Configurator for the car exactly as it will be when flashed, and review every selection before checkout.
- A full ECU read is not required unless Poverty Built requests one after reviewing the order.
- Flashing software, licenses, cables, and interfaces are separate unless this listing or your order specifically says they are included.
- If your order also includes a cable or other physical hardware, that item ships separately. A shipping label means the package is being prepared; it is not in transit until the carrier receives it.
THE TUNE CONFIGURATOR IS PART OF THE ORDER
Enter your vehicle, installed hardware, fuel, transmission, and feature preferences in the Tune Configurator.
More information
- The vehicle must be mechanically healthy. A calibration will not repair vacuum leaks, failing sensors, weak fuel delivery, ignition faults, cooling problems, low compression, or other mechanical issues.
- Choose options for the car exactly as it will be driven with this tune.
- Hardware changes made after delivery may require purchasing an updated calibration.
- Results vary with vehicle condition, fuel quality, altitude, weather, and installed hardware.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
- A Poverty Built platform-developed calibration configured around the selections submitted with the order
- Flashing guidance for the supported MSV80/MSV80.0/MSV80.1 process
- Correction of a verified tune-related issue if the delivered file does not match the submitted order
Your Poverty Built tune covers the supported setup submitted with your order, including correction of a verified issue with the delivered file. One-off development, repeated datalog review, ongoing preference revisions, and later hardware changes are separate from this single-map product.

FLASHING REQUIREMENTS
For the supported MSV80/MSV80.0/MSV80.1 applications listed here, Bimmer Tuning Tools MSV80 QuickFlash is a compatible flashing route. You will need a Windows PC, internet access, a compatible flashing cable and stable battery support. Software licenses and equipment are purchased separately unless your order specifically includes them. Check BTT's cable requirements before buying a cable.
Already have a flashing tool? Contact Poverty Built before ordering if you need us to confirm compatibility. If we need a file read or additional ECU identification for your specific order, we will request it. You do not need to submit a full read unless asked. Follow the file-specific instructions supplied with your tune.
